Gourds and more mushrooms.

A little while ago we bought two gorgeous gourds in our coop store. I painted both of them, and probably will paint more.
Here is the first one - painted on 8x10: inches canvas panel and finished with UV protection varnish.

Gourd #2  - 6x8 inches canvas panel, also varnished:

And a new painting of three King Bolitas mushrooms - painted on 300lb watercolor paper mounted on 10x10 inches stretched canvas, varnished:

Little Purple Mushrooms.

4x4 in

As you probably already noticed I love painting mushrooms. In fact I love everything about them - hunting (what a strange word, like they are running), eating (of course edible ones). Mushrooms similar to what I painted are not edible, in mycology's world they are usually in a undefined category LBM - little brown mushrooms.  Well, I decided to paint LPM - Little Purple Mushrooms. Enjoy!

Painting from the past - Alaska landscapes.

Since I made Daily Paintwork site my main website, I will keep loading some paintings I made some time ago, when I lived in Juneau, Alaska. Also, I intend to make new series of artwork based on Alaska land and seascapes.
This is a painting of Sunny Cove, beautiful place on Lynn Canal, about 20 miles north from downtown Juneau. Whales are frequent visitors of that place and during my visits there I often heard sounds they make - like sighs - when they get on surface of the water. Few times I even saw a couple of whales there.

Daily Painting - red butterfly with a character.

This butterfly definitely has a character, but after I painted it yesterday, we couldn't give it a name. Finally on the way home last night I said that it looks like Dracula cape and my husband instantly came with a name - Count Dracufly:

Grecian Shoemaker Butterfly painting.

One more tropical butterfly I saw in Butterfly Garden in Seattle, it's called Grecian Shoemaker. It's just was impossible not to paint it with it's bright orange spots sitting on the same color saucer so it almost looked like it has big holes in it's wings.

And since to my husband it reminded Batman he called it Dark Butter-Knight.
